SIMPLICITY IN 2010

A Resolution for 2010: "I will live the Christian life in 2010."

Could you make such a resolution? If not, how far out of your reach is living the Christian life in 2010? What would you have to do to have hope of living the Christian life?

Most Christians seem to believe the living of the Christian life is always just out of their reach. Like resolutions about losing weight or exercising every day quickly fade after January 1, so, too, the resolution to live the Christian life can quickly fade.

Is living the Christian life about my resolving to live it? Is my decision to live it the key in 2010?

The perfect Christian life is already alive and living in every believer. The Christian life is a Person-Jesus. Jesus does not live because we decide to let Him live. He does not work because we decide to let Him work. He is. He works.

The right resolution in 2010 would be "I will receive and release day by day and moment by moment the fruit of the perfect Person who lives in me in 2010." Because of God’s grace and the perfect presence of Jesus in us this resolution is always within our reach in 2010.

When we start resolutions from what is lacking we will soon find that we come up short trying to be what is lacking. Lack has never produced abundance. When we count on ourselves we will quickly find we are not an abundant source that makes good resolutions work.

When we count on the perfect existence of the Christian life in us, which is Jesus, we will find all the resolve we need in 2010.

Let the Christian life live through you in 2010. The Christian life is a Person and that Person has already resolved to be perfect in you and through you in 2010. Just cooperate with the Christian life. Abide!
