Thoughts

It is so easy to follow our thoughts into the darkness. Before we even realize it we are instantly back in the dark world where we once sought relief from our daily pain and satisfaction from continuous thirst.

We stay for a while. We know we should leave but we do not want to go. We know we have left obedience to Jesus back in the light. His caring Voice has followed us into the darkness but we ignore it.

If we listen to Him even for a moment, we know that darkness will lose its grip on us and we will immediately be back in the light.

Finally the darkness grows tiring and our spirit begins to sense that this is no longer our place. The temporary relief grows meaningless and the sweet taste of false satisfaction is now sour in our soul. We turn back to the Voice. Jesus is there.

We confess. We wonder why He stays and waits. He is light. Light wins over darkness. All He ever wanted was what is best for us. It is so easy to return to the light.

Listen to Oswald Chambers...

"In Spiritual relationship we do not grow step by step; we are either there or we are not. God does not cleanse us more and more from sin, but when we are in the light walking in the light, we are cleansed from all sin. It is a question of obedience, and instantly the relationship is perfected. Turn away one second out of obedience, and darkness and death are at work at once."

"For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." Romans 8:6
