MY FLESH
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Romans 8: 9a
My flesh will never improve. It was a wonderful, liberating moment when I finally gave up trying to improve my flesh. Working on something that never improves was wearing me out and breaking my heart.
I was not the first to deal with this never improving thing called flesh. According to Romans 7 the Apostle Paul hit the same “it never improves” wall. Like Paul, I found the answer in a complete change in my inspiration.
I couldn’t change my flesh, but God could change me by changing my inspiration. By giving me a perfect inspiration from which to live and behave, God made me entirely new.
I teach new believers to say “My flesh will never improve”. Paul taught us that we are not even in the flesh any more. I teach new and old believers to stop wasting time on their flesh. They usually say “What is my flesh?”. I have used many, many ways to describe the flesh, but he most useful have been these statements.
Your flesh is everything you did independently of God looking for satisfaction that is only found in God.
Flesh is you thinking you can live autonomously.
We must consider ourselves dead to sin and alive to God. We must realize each day that there is no longer any inspiration whatsoever for us in sin or in living autonomously. There is, however, perfect inspiration in God for us.
Living autonomously is the original Satanic illusion. The reality is we either live in the inspiration of God or we live under the inspiration of Satan and His systems that keep us thinking human autonomy actually exists.
My flesh will never improve. That’s O.K. because you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit. Being in the Spirit is your new inspiration and that changes you day by day.
God sees you in the Spirit. Do you see yourself the way He does?
