A One Question and a One Answer Life
I think I was born asking questions and arguing with the answers. My first 50 years of life were filled with asking questions and debating the answers. As the years flew by I was finally blessed to find all the answers in one Person-Jesus. When He said He was the truth, He meant He is all the truth-all the answers.
My inquisitive mind continues to learn and grow in the truth as I stay focused on the one answer-Jesus. As Jesus has become my one answer, I have found I am becoming a man of only one question, " Jesus, how would you have me deliver your love?"
Could it be that my first 50 years of so many questions could come down to only one answer and to only one question? Could it all come down to simply Jesus and simply delivering His love?
As I meditate on Jesus' metaphor of the Vine and the Branches in John 15, I see this simplicity. My life truly is as simple as one Vine and its dependent branch delivering love as one. The Vinedresser looks on with pleasure as the fruit of the Spirit appears. So simple.
Perhaps the questions were needed. Perhaps they were not. All I know is that coming to this one answer and one question place has allowed me to be at peace within and more loving without. When the answer became one and the question became one, my debating stopped and so did my inner turmoil.
Did Jesus live a one question life? I think He did. I think His only question was "Father, is this my cup?" "Is this how I should deliver your love?" Even Jesus had to ask how to love!
I am so glad Jesus came as the one answer and with only one question. I am so glad I am learning to live a one answer and one question life, too. The one answer has freed me from all the other questions that troubled my soul.
I feel like the man who found the treasure he had long sought. He went and sold all he had to own only that one treasure. With that one treasure he was finally at peace.
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Matt. 13:44
It was a great day when I added up all my questions and sold them to buy the field where Jesus, the one answer, was waiting for me to come back to learn the one question.
